Bring a cool bag with you in summer and make sure you take back a boiled crab or a dressed crab with you.

Coach parties, bikers, campers and holidaymakers come Sheringham in the summer months, and many say that dropping by Richard's Fish Shop to buy shellfish or Norfolk Kipper House products is a tradition for them.

Now in it's 21st year of trade, Richard's Fish Shop (established in 1990 by Sheringham fisherman Richard Little) is one of the smallest fishmongers you will ever visit and certainly a quintessentially British local shop. Located in the town centre, Richard's is conveinient for picking up a bit of fresh fish for supper, or for that essential shellfish purchase before heading home.

With a firmly established trade from Richards Fish Shop, our traditional wet fishmongers in Sheringham, the farmers markets and trade with individuals, pubs, hotels, care homes and restaurants, the Norfolk Kipper House looked to expand its product range. With the history and heritage of the local fishing industry in evidence up the coastline, inspiration was not far from home. Here, in Sheringhams flint studded buildings like The Whelk Coppers, and the tiny rows of flint napped fishermans cottages on the seafront that are the same as they were in photos a hundred years ago when fishermen in their slops and their wives wove herring nets. Indeed, if you wander around the backstreets of Sheringham you may still see a fishermans shed with primary coloured market buoy flags poking out the door and stacks of crab, lobster and bell-shaped lobster pots piled from floor to ceiling.
